REGRET

I regret not one thing that I've done
Just an endless list of things I've failed to do
My mind is set: confronting what I've shunned
Is what now I'm fighting tooth and nail to do
And it's long overdue

Though not a new idea, I've spent the last few months
Giving a lot of thought to only living once
And having thus arrived, I think it's finally time
To push my fears aside and leave regret behind

There's a skepticism I've maintained
That the new, untried, untrue could ever pay
So I've upkept a schism with the aim
Of insuring what's unknown is kept at bay
But that all ends today

Such rich and fertile ground in which to finally delve
My taking not one risk: Risk in and of itself
And as it's a futile plan to make up for wasted time
I'll salvage what I can and leave the rest behind

I'll still do what's right, but come what may --
Goodbye to black and white; hello to shades of grey
I said I'll do what's right, but come what may --
Goodbye to black and white; hello to shades of grey
